Child Dedication
This lovely ceremony welcomes new babies or older children into our Old Ship community. Parents may choose to have a child dedicated during a regular Sunday worship service, or in a private ceremony.
Please contact our minister oldshipkrb@comcast.net if you wish to arrange a child dedication.
Christmas Eve
On this festive night of the year, Old Ship holds a special service to mark this special celebration.
Coming of Age Service
The culmination of our year-long Coming of Age program for younger teens, this special worship service provides the youths and their personal mentors an opportunity to share what they have learned, and the congregation to affirm their accomplishments.

Flower Sunday
In mid-June, during our last Sunday of the church year, worshipers bring flowers which are then arranged into a large vase, symbolizing the unity of our community.
Memorial Services
Through the centuries, the quiet grace of the Meeting House has been the site of countless memorial services, celebrating the lives and marking the deaths of our members and friends.
Please contact our minister oldshipkrb@comcast.net for details, or to discuss a service.
Recognition of New Members
In the spring, we formally recognize and welcome individuals who have made the choice to become members of First Parish, Hingham.
Summer Worship Services
Every week during the summer, lay-led worship services are held at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish House parlor. Structured but informal, these services are coordinated by our Worship Committee.
For information or to lead a service, please contact John McKendry john.mckendry@gmail.com
Thanksgiving
Annually on Thanksgiving Eve, Old Ship opens its doors to the community for a special non-denominational Thanksgiving service. The service is led by lay people and clergy representing a number of denominations and houses of worship in Hingham and Hull. The offering is donated to charity.
UU Union Service
Every year, six local Unitarian Universalist congregations - including First Parish, Hingham—gather for a joint Sunday morning worship service. Hosting this special event rotates among the six congregations.
Water Sunday
When the congregation gathers in September after our summer break, individuals and families bring samples of water collected from various vacation or travel spots. The water is then collected into one bowl, symbolizing the unity of our congregants.
Weddings and Services of Union
Old Ship is a beautiful setting for a wedding or service of union. There is no requirement that one be a member of the congregation. For information on the minister's availability and the availability of the Meeting House, please contact our Parish Assistant, Julianna Dunn (office@oldshipchurch.org). To plan a service, please contact the minister oldshipkrb@comcast.net.
